David Groce entered our military forces by joining the United States Army in 1990. His ambition to serve in the military was spurred on by his family tradition of service and he decided to join the Army as a senior in High School. Groce shipped out for Basic Training right after graduation in 1986.
After serving a tour in Desert Storm in a tank division he spent the remainder of his 22 ½ year military career in recruiting to help other young men and women realize their choice to follow in his path of serving our country. Groce retired as a Command Sargeant Major.

A friend in Combat Veterans Motorcycle Assn told Groce about Wounded War Heroes and put in his application. David’s first trip was to the annual Toledo Bend Bass Tournament in 2021. “It was just an awesome experience being able to hang out with some other Vets, I fell in love with the organization and have enjoyed it ever since.” “The biggest thing is just being able to be with other vets, talk to each other and tell war stories,” stated Groce “It’s just different talking with civilians than other vets. The camaraderie, just being able to put all your cares on hold for a couple of days and just hang out with your brothers and sisters. It’s very therapeutic!”
David Groce became a firearm instructor shortly after his military retirement in 2009 and eventually obtained a gunsmith certification, honing his skills working on firearms. “Unexpectedly in 2017 where I was instructing closed and somewhat tiring of the corporate world, I made the leap to open my own gun shop,” stated Groce. “That’s when I opened my own store.”
So today if you make the trek to 32290 Sasser Lane in Walker, La. you will experience a full-service firearm experience at P&D Walker Gun Store. Not only will you have the ability to purchase a firearm of your choice, but you will also have the availability of instruction from a certified trainer that got his training in the Army shooting from a tank that could hit a target routinely from 3 or 4 miles away.
Full service of gun repairs is available along with the service of obtaining a concealed carry permit from the state of Louisiana. Firearm training is available along with ammo and much, much more. It really is a full service, one-stop shop for all your firearm needs. David also takes care of issuing all the paperwork for the firearms Wounded War Heroes raffles and give-a-ways.
