Chauvin, Louisiana
May 04 – 06, 2018
This is a saltwater fishing rodeo for 25 veteran couples held at the Harbor Lights Pavilion in Chauvin, LA. Everyone will arrive around 4:00 PM on Friday, May 4th just in time to register, meet their captain and enjoy dinner. The captains are all local fishermen who donate their time and boats. All the food is donated and then cooked by local people. Each couple will be housed in local camps and hotels through the generosity of the local owners. Everyone will fish all day Saturday. That evening dinner will be served once again. Awards will be given to the couples in 6 fish categories. Afterward, each couple will be given a door prize. Sunday morning each couple will leave with an ice chest full of clean fish.
Without the generosity of the people of Terrebonne Parish, this fishing rodeo would not happen. The organizing committee has built this rodeo into a great success. Those who have attended in the past have enjoyed the opportunity to get to know the spouses of veterans who have to deal with so much. It helps their spouse understand what Wounded War Heroes is all about and why their veterans are always so anxious to attend other Wounded War Heroes events.
