Eddie Darneal with Beacon Roofing Products, Bryan Meyer with Strata Roofing, and Eric Udick with Blazer Building Southwest hosted the 3 rd Annual Wounded War Heroes Matagorda fishing trip at the Run N Gun Adventure Lodge in Bay City, Texas. Upon arrival the vets were given gifts including coolers, weatherproof duffle bags, hats, and goodie bags.

Everyone left the lodge at 5AM Saturday morning to go to the docks at the Matagorda Marina and meet their fishing guide for the weekend. Our two guides were Capt. Fletcher and Capt. Landon. Around 6AM we loaded up on the boats and headed to an oyster reef to go wade fishing for speckled trout. Four hours later we were on our way back with everyone’s limit of trout, one redfish, and a flounder. After the morning trip it was time to relax and get rested up for the next day’s trip.

We left the lodge at the same time on Sunday morning, arrived at the marina, and boarded the boats. We headed out to a different reef this time. We all geared up, exited the boats, and waded to the area of the reef we would be fishing at. Shortly after sunrise the bite turned on. Everybody was getting slammed by the trout. At 8:45AM everyone had their limit. We headed back to the lodge to pack up and head home.

The vets brought home a good pile of trout to enjoy. Everyone had a great time. We can’t wait for next year!!
