On January 7th, 2020, Dwight Blackman, Anthony Cuccia, and Mike Cheramie arrived in Gueydan, Louisiana to hunt speckled belly geese with Elliot Sale of Easy E’s Guide Service. This hunt was given away as a door prize at the Cypremort Point fishing event put on each year by our great friends from “down” the bayou.

On the way down to the camp the hunters were excited as Gueydan is world famous for goose hunting. On arrival at the camp, the hunters were warmly welcomed and shown to their accommodations. The camp was absolutely fantastic, as it was very comfortable and set up perfectly for hunters to enjoy themselves.

The dinner that night was fresh shucked grilled oysters, speckled belly goose in a dark gravy over rice, garlic bread, and a venison back strap. There were many a story told, many laughs and a good time had by all.

The next morning came early as the hunters had to drive down the road and load up on a specially rigged utility vehicle to get to the pit blind. The hunters settled in and waited. With a full moon the night before and no wind, the geese did not cooperate. Despite them not cooperating just sitting out there was fun due to all the geese chatter that could be heard across the fields.

When the hunters returned they were treated to a breakfast cooked by a longtime friend of W.W.H., David Defelice. The geese might not have cooperated but Elliot Sale of Easy E’s Guide Service and his dad went out of their way to make sure the W.W.H. hunters were treated to a good time.

Easy E’s Guide Service is top of the line when it comes to professional goose guides. A big W.W.H. thank you to Elliot Sale and to David Defelice for setting up this hunt.

The hunters were already talking about returning next year to get a crack at some geese with Easy E’s!
